The National Association of Union Schools and Colleges (NAUSC) has been incorporated as a national not for profit corporation and includes three incorporated regional associations in the Western, Central, and Eastern areas of Canada that represents currently over 50,000 members and 35 local union organizations.

Our mandate is to provide a truly national strategy for a comprehensive professional development plan to include development of training for every working member, business and training representative in our organization to include Apprenticeship, Safety, Education, PostJourney, Computer Training and Specialty Training programs to every classification of worker we represent in the building trades construction industry.

This includes the search for support from all levels of government and industry, both in-kind and financial, in an effort to have joint labour/management/government initiatives improve the way we complete work for our clients and owners, towards improving productivity and performance in the construction industry. This will be achieved by working closely with clients owners contractors teachers and all levels of industry representatives to pursue our mission.

Our group intends to support all areas of the union construction industry including any union that works on construction in Canada to help prepare these organizations to prepare for development of training courses and infrastructure and programs for professional development of the image and the competence of members working in construction.

We will implement strategies to improve the way we work and this includes the following efforts that we have already started:

National Foreman Certification Program
National Shop Steward Training Program
National Apprenticeship Development Program

This is the start of dealing with all levels of management, government and the public to improve all levels of what we do as an organization and to improve our current work force in the building trades and create new work opportunities for our membership.
